July

Friday 20th-Sunday 22nd Jumpers & Jazz in Warwick**.

This 20-22nd July will see our inaugural 3 day outing to Warwick, in what no doubt will become a regular club event. ‘Jumpers and Jazz in July’ is a 10 day 'happening' where jazz, craft, art in the form of 'yarnbombing', cars, food and fun all combine into an amazing event, as attested by some club members who already make it part of their annual 'must do' list.

The AHOCQ has accepted the invitation to the Sunday’s Grand Historic Auto Display...it will be great to have a full contingent of Austin-Healeys as we now have 12 cars confirmed for the Sunday Main Street car display and some more who may yet still come as well.

For those coming for the three days we will be convening Friday morning on the south side (venue to be determined but Brown's Plain McDonalds is a strong contender subject to dry run confirmation) and running through to the Rathdowny Hotel, onto the Spring Creek Cafe, then the picturesque Queen Mary Falls and through to an afternoon of wine, cider and cheese tasting at Stanthorpe before heading into Warwick for Friday evening events.

The weekend's event schedule will be avilable after the 25th of May here. Anyone who wants to attend the Friday night swing band Winter Dinner will be able shortly to purchase tickets at www.warwicktickets.com.au

If there are any who just want to drive to Warwick on the Saturday morning, please let me know and we can work on a meeting point for a Saturday grouping if needed.

The hotel is now fully booked..if you want to attend please organise your own accommodation and let the run captain know you are attending by the 19th July.

IF YOU HAVE CONFIRMED YOU ARE COMING AND DECIDE NOT TO PLEASE LET RUN CAPTAIN KNOW ASAP AS SUNDAY MAIN STREET CAR DISPLAY SPACES HAVE ALREADY BEEN RESERVED & ALLOCATED.

Love a bit of fire or need to re-connect with your inner pyromaniac? Then join also us for the Saturday night fun in Killarney when we make the 45 km drive to witness the amazing, blazing and unique Fire Drums Bonfire Night that fires up winter at the Killarney Polocrosse Fields. An awesome addition to the fun. A big bonfire, music & food. You may fancy sipping mulled wine or a citrus hot toddy by the warmth of a fire-breathing dragon or flaming echidna, or a 10-foot tall fiery Ned Kelly!

Book for the Killarney Bonfire Night here.

This is an event not to miss! The vibes around town are just fantastic. The colour, crafts and music in the streets are phenomenal, the town comes alive on this amazing weekend.

October

** Sunday 21st October JH Classics Open Day

Date claimer announcement for your diary. Details later.

**29th to November 4th: Charlie’s Run

Each year the NSW club organises a week away with our cars. This year marks the 25th Charlie’s Run
and we would like to invite members of the Queensland Club to join us for all or part of the Run.
This year the Run will start on Monday 29th October for two nights at Inverell, where amongst other
things, we will take a town tour ending at the National Transport Museum. There are a number of quirky
local attractions in Inverell such as the Victa lawnmower museum or sapphire fossicking for those with
a bent for lawn mowing or picking precious stones from the dirt.

From Inverell we will head east through beautiful and productive farming country – check the variety of
cattle breeds you will see in the fields - stopping to admire the occasional waterfall on the way to Dorrigo.
We have two nights at the beautifully scenic Lookout Mountain Retreat. Whilst here you can sample
the Rainforest Centre, take the Skywalk, or take a short drive to the idyllic country town of Bellingen,
whilst the brighter lights, and bigger shops of Coffs Harbour are not far away. Dorrigo also has a huge
collection of steam trains and railway relics, but sadly not open to the general public.

On Friday 2nd November we have a leisurely drive south to Forster where we will stay two nights with the
option of a Dolphin and (maybe) Whale Watching Cruise on Saturday morning. Sadly, Sunday 4th November
marks the end of this year’s Charlies’ Run. Enjoy a buffet breakfast followed by your leisurely (or
otherwise) drive home.

Additional OPTION: Some AHOCQ members are independently considering attending the shortened leg of the run and fronting up for the Dorrigo Music Festival 26-28/10,  https://www.dorrigofolkbluegrass.com.au/ and then meeting the NSW Healey crew for two nights at Inverell, and then returning home from Inverell not returning to Dorrigo. If you are interested in exploring this option please conatct Noel Standfast hstandfa@iinet.net.au
