BJ8 'Blue Jay' Wins Melbourne Cup

AHOCQ member Russell's BJ8 'Blue Jay' was awarded the Melbourne Cup drive around gig in this years EKKA show Grand Parade accompanied by fellow-member Anita, Kiana Stanley from the Victorian Racing Club and QLD's leading female jockey holding tightly onto the gleaming, golden Melbourne Cup. The cup is of obvious interest, but so is the 26 year old QLD jockey Angela Jones whose dream it is to hold the cup again after a win in the actual Melbourne Cup. Angela Jones is a top-performing Australian jockey based in Queensland. She made history as the first female rider to win the prestigious Brisbane Metropolitan Jockeys' Premiership at the end of the 2024-25 racing season.

Earlier this year, she was crowned Racing Woman of the Year at the 2026 Magic Millions Racing Women Achievement Awards. Russell was the lucky gent who not only owns Blue Jay the BJ8, but got to drive all three belles of the parade and their golden treasure for the entire Arena to see and celebrate not only some awesome Queenslanders and Victoria Racing's finest, but the awesomeness of the #AustinHealey BJ8 at its finest!
